Our team are delighted to announce our chosen charities of the year for 2020 as we are set to embark on a year of fundraising events and efforts. This year, we have decided to support not one but two deserving local charities – Destination Florida and Bright Futures School.
Destination Florida provide holidays of a lifetime for children with life-threatening illnesses and conditions from across the North of England. Organising biennial trips to Florida for around 72 children, the eight-day holidays give the children the opportunity to visit all the major theme parks, including; Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. High quality medical and pastoral care is provided by 110 adults throughout the trips, allowing the children’s parents and carers to have a priceless eight days of respite whilst having the reassurance of knowing their child will continue to have professional medical care.
Bright Futures School specialises in provision for children with autism aged between 5 and 16 years old and brings a new approach to autism education. Providing one to one education for 12 pupils, the school has recently moved to a new purpose-built premises in Greenfield, which provides a multi-sensory room and touchscreen TV’s as well as an outdoor playground.
The O’Donnell Solicitors team plan to undertake a series of fundraising activities throughout 2020 including running the Manchester 10k in May with the Destination Florida team and attending their planned events for the year. Other fundraising activities will include a team sporting challenge, dress down Friday’s throughout the year together with other office based fund raisers – all details to be revealed throughout the year!
Rebecca O’Donnell, Director, commented:
“Giving back to local causes has been something we’ve done since we first launched the firm and each year, we choose a charity of the year to benefit. There are so many fantastic local causes in need of support that this year, we made the decision to choose two charities.
“All of our directors have young families and Destination Florida and Bright Futures School really stood out to us. We look forward to working closely with the charities and learning more about their work as we try our best to raise as much as possible!”
Last year’s chosen charity of the year was Emmaus Mossley.
