On Sunday 16th October 2016, James O’Donnell, Director and solicitor at O’Donnell Solicitors took to the rainy streets of Manchester to run the Manchester Half Marathon. James, who ran the Mossley 10k in June 2016, has been training with Mossley AFC Running Club for the past four months. He has battled sleepless nights after welcoming his youngest son into the world in early September, sometimes running on his own and early mornings to achieve his goal.
The race started at 9:00am and James O’Donnell crossed the finish line at Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire County Cricket Club in a respectable time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 5 seconds. The support along the route was phenomenal and the people of Manchester came out in force to offer their support to all of the runners taking part to raise money and awareness for their chosen charities. There was even a rock and roll choir who sat it out in the pouring rain to sing for the runners.
Also running was Carol Jones, the wife of Anthony Jones, Senior Family Lawyer at the firm, who completed her first half marathon. A great achievement and one her family are extremely proud of.
The runners from the running club met at the Hare and Hounds Inn, Luzley after the event for a few well deserved drinks and some food. Congratulations to James and to all those who ran in this gruelling event.
James ran to raise money for Ronald McDonald House and The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity. If you would like to support these worthy causes, please visit our Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/JODHalfmarathon.
