O’Donnell Solicitors is delighted to announce our support and participation in the 2019 Tour of Tameside! The four-day festival of running, which takes in the best sights and sounds that Tameside has to offer, will start this year on 13th June, concluding on Sunday 16th June. Several members of team O’Donnell will be participating in the event over its various stages, all to raise money for our charity of the year – Emmaus in Mossley.
This is the third year that a team from O’Donnell Solicitors has taken part in the event – and we’re delighted that this year will see even more of us putting on our running shoes! Director James O’Donnell and assistant Solicitor Suzzanne Gardener will be joined by PA Claire Kinder who are taking part in each of the four stages of the Tour, with Director Anthony Jones taking part in stage 1 and Directors Rebecca O’Donnell, Claire Egerton taking part in the last race in Hyde joined by PA Natalie Wright and Receptionist Emma Jones, and the firms accounts manager Catherine Lees.
The Tour of Tameside event, which was originally founded by marathon legend Dr Ron Hill MBE in 1983, was re-launched in 2015 and has been growing in popularity year on year. With four different events over four days, each of which takes in a different running route and type of terrain, the Tour is designed to challenge participants both physically and mentally, whilst still offering something for runners of all abilities. Alongside participants and team being encouraged to raise money for local causes, any profits raised from the four-day event are donated back into the local community.
James O’Donnell, Director and Head of Commercial said:
“We all lead busy and stressful lives but as a firm, we believe that participating in physical activity such as running can really help to relieve this. In addition, running alongside each other; spurring each other on during both training sessions and events themselves, has proven to be extremely rewarding and enjoyable.
“All of our team both live and work in the local area and so it is also great to be able to participate in event that shows off and celebrates the outstanding beauty around us, whilst also giving back to those in need in Tameside.”
Several members of the team at O’Donnell Solicitors regularly take part in physical fundraising challenges. Later on in the summer, James O’Donnell will also be walking 26 miles around the Peak District to raise funds for Macmillan as part of their Mighty Hike event.
