Earlier in the year, we announced that following the recent diagnosis, treatment and recovery of our Director, Claire Egerton, from breast cancer, we would support local cancer support group Cancer Warriors.
We were greatly saddened to learn that Cancer Warriors had to close its doors recently. This left us with the need to find a new charity. Luckily, the choice was an easy one to make…
We are delighted to announce that we will support Dr Kershaw’s as our new charity of the year. Dr Kershaw’s Hospice is a local, independent charity based in Oldham that provides specialist palliative care services at home, in day care and in the hospice itself. It is completely self-funded and relies on the generous donations of its supporters.
We are committed to helping Dr Kershaw’s reach its goal of providing the very best care for people living with cancer.
At O’Donnell Solicitors, we have close connections with Dr Kershaw’s. Claire Egerton actually fundraised for the hospice by taking part – and winning! – their Strictly Kershaw’s dancing competition in 2018.
James O’Donnell had an aunt who sadly passed away with cancer at the end of May and the care at home team from Dr Kershaw’s provided her with the care and support she needed in her last days.
Cancer sadly affects so many of us and we are therefore very passionate about supporting Dr Kershaw’s in their mission to provide the best care for people with cancer. We are committed to helping them reach their goals and will continue fundraise for them via a number of events throughout the year.
Giving back to our local community is an important part of our ethos as a firm. We hope that our fundraising efforts will help Dr Kershaw’s Hospice continue to provide its amazing services to the people of Oldham.
Our first main fundraising event of the year in aid of Dr Kershaw’s was the Mossley 10K. Our team, led by Gianna Lisiecki-Cunane, ran this notoriously challenging route, which takes runners from Upper Mossley around Lower Mossley and Greenfield. Our fundraising page can be found here.
